Well
what is there to say about the History of Hear'say? You must have
been in complete hibernation if you haven't heard of the UK TV programme
called 'Popstars' that dominated a lot of people's television viewing
for weeks at the beginning of 2001.
'Popstars'
started in January 2001 and set out to find five people to make a
new pop group. There were to be three girls and two boys. It was a
nationwide search and thousands of auditions were held across the
country. Some very talented people were seen, and also some not so
talented...
Each week we saw auditions being held around the country and people
being eliminated, getting tougher and tougher until just a selected
60 were taken to London, week after week we saw the numbers decrease
to just 10 people....
Then
in a special episode the judges visited the final 10 people at their
homes and the nation were introduced to the band... in reality, the
band had been together since about November 2000... hidden away from
the British press.
The
Band had to wear masks when going out at this time to keep their identities
from being revealed. The press were always trying to track them down
and were relieved when their identities were revealed on the TV show
which would free them from the "popstars bubble".
Choosing
their name was one of their first decisions and previous names suggested
by Nasty Nigel were rejected. (Well some of them were sounding pretty
lousy from what I remember). Eventually they chose "Hear'say" which
represents all the talk and rumours going around about the band at
the time.
